Job Description:

The VP, Total Rewards reports into the Senior Vice President, Talent and serves as a member of the enterprise Talent Leadership Team (TLT) that consists of the SVP, Talent, his direct reports and Talent Executives from each of the five CTCA hospitals. At the core of the VP’s mandate will be to continue to elevate the Total Rewards strategy to support the company’s M&A integration and competition for talent. This leader will work alongside their team to operationalize that strategy. In order to fulfill the strategic and operational mandate for this role, the VP must excel at mentoring future leaders in Total Rewards to continue to build a high performing team that will add to the Talent Team’s bench strength.

The VP, Total Rewards is responsible for delivering the following results:

  • Prepare and present analyses, materials and recommendations to senior leadership and the Compensation Committee.
  • Engage effectively and thoughtfully with the Talent Committee of the Board of Directors Partner with the Talent Committee of the Board’s executive compensation consultant to proactively review executive compensation matters and trends and recommend compensation structure and base pay adjustments; annual and long-term plan design changes, target bonus levels, and competitive rewards programs. 
  • Design and deliver consistent, compelling education and communication programs that are easily translatable across all levels of Stakeholders from the C-Suite to entry level.
  • Support the development of incentive plan designs that recognize, reward and retain top performers based upon a combination of company financial performance and individual performance.
  • Ensure market-competitive CTCA Compensation Philosophy that enables CTCA to attract and retain top talent as the organization navigates a full-scale transformation.
  • Periodically measure the performance and value proposition of all rewards programs to ensure high quality and value is balanced with efficiency.
  • A compliant, market-competitive CTCA Physician Compensation program that emphasizes quality of care and delivers appropriate awards for productivity.

Qualified candidates will possess the following "must have" capabilities:

  • A talent magnet with a track record of building high performing teams using a discerning eye for untapped talent and human potential.
  • Multi-industry background, including experience leading the Total Rewards function in a large, multi-site healthcare organization.
  • A high integrity, selfless leader who consistently earns broad-based respect, trust and admiration from Stakeholders up, down and across the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience working across highly matrixed organizations that require high levels of influence, relationship-building and agility to secure necessary support for Total Rewards initiatives.
  • Experience designing an integrated Wellness strategy that delivered meaningful impact on participant health outcomes and employer costs.
  • Proven experience leading the Total Rewards due diligence and subsequent integration of various types of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience leading the Total Rewards strategy through an organizational transformation, including a proven track record of rapidly redesigning incentive plans and benefit plan offerings that balance cost reduction with market competitiveness.

Qualified candidates will possess the following experience:

  • 15+ years of related compensation and benefits experience 5 years Total Rewards leadership experience with direct Compensation Committee experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Human Resources or Business Administration, MS/MBA preferred
  • A healthcare background, including experience leading the Total Rewards function in a large, multi-site healthcare organization. 
  • Multi-industry experience preferred.
  • A deep understanding, developed through experience, of the Compensation & Benefits landscape.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, influence, listen, instruct, give clear feedback, and ask good questions.
  • A proven track record of building and developing a highly motivated and competent team capable of effectively supporting the organization
  • Very strong results-orientation, follow-up and attention to detail
  • Ability to generate results through influence in a matrix environment with multiple and diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability to interact directly with C-level leaders - both internally and externally
  • Proven experience developing and continually advancing base and variable pay structure, and health and welfare programs, and administrative guidelines based on business needs and long-range objectives
  • Demonstrated track record of success in applying marketplace insights - from a variety of different channels - to appropriately adjust programs and enhance business results
  • Strong strategic acumen and planning capabilities
  • Excellent business acumen and judgment with the ability to juggle numerous projects simultaneously
  • A creative problem-solver with the ability to make sound decisions based on facts
  • Strong network of Total Reward professionals to benchmark and to share with in order to calibrate compensation and benefits options
