The Director is responsible for the overall success of the assigned category. This includes all vendor contracting, supply expense management, procurement, distribution, and supporting technology. In addition, this position is responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing a category specific contracting plan to include vendor management and negotiation.
This individual is responsible for building strategic relationships and ongoing alliances with enterprise leadership, as it relates to successfully executing our Category Operations Plan and Strategy.
Develop sourcing strategies aligned with procurement objectives and enact programs to identify, negotiate and develop optimal contracts with suitable suppliers for the category.
Recommend initiatives to reduce cost base, increase flexibility and performance, and underpin supply reliability within the Category.
Negotiate preferential contract terms with suppliers, mitigate risk for the business, and work alongside the in-house legal team to draft contractual language.
Support management of suppliers’ performance and explore opportunities for continuous improvement within the Category to reduce long-term costs for the business.
Support Procurement spends review and reporting activity.
Development and execution of regional, and enterprise contracting plan to ensure the achievement of the procurement/Category plan and cost management strategy.
Assimilates information from a variety of sources, able to analyze data and make strategic recommendations and executes a course of action for all elements of vendor development and management
Responsible for managing category management expectations
Interacts and developsstrong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges which may include clinicians, physicians, hospital, vendors and enterprise leadership
Provides cost saving enhancement strategies to support supply expense management
5+ years’ of experience in category management in Procurement, Category, or Materials Management in healthcare ideally
Multi-facility experience highly preferred
Strong understanding of contracting principles
Excellent vendor management capability
Excellent business acumen, analytical capability and negotiation skills
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting with strong quantitative orientation required
Master’s degree in Business Administration or Finance preferred
